For more than 70 years, SEFCU has taken pride and part in the communities that the credit union serves.  Recently, SEFCU and the University at Albany announced a partnership commitment to rename the university’s Recreation and Convocation Center , in addition to promotional opportunities for a 10-year period.  The facility, to be known as the SEFCU Arena, is the home for UAlbany's men's and women's basketball teams. The SEFCU Arena will continue to expand its role as a major venue for community events, sporting events and university activities.  This collaboration gives SEFCU the opportunity to educate UAlbany faculty, staff, students, and alumni about the benefits of SEFCU membership and provide financial literacy programs to the university community, including children from the Albany City School District who are part of the UAlbany Alliance.

 There are also many benefits from a marketing perspective for SEFCU, and this partnership is a huge win!  In addition to providing SEFCU members with arena benefits such as advanced ticket sales and discounts for select SEFCU Arena events, the credit union will benefit from a lower cost-per-impression to increase awareness about the organization and eligibility to join.  SEFCU believes this is a smart use of marketing dollars to help make people aware of the credit union and to educate consumers and businesses about how they can join.  While we are very respectful of our roots, originally formed as the credit union for New York State Employees, today there are over 1,000 ways to join SEFCU.  This partnership will help to increase top-of-mind awareness about the credit union.
